Curious about the future of some features on the Lucid Gravity. Does anyone have insights? I’ve had my Grand Touring for about six months now, and while I love the car overall, there are a few things I expected a bit more from based on what I was told.

For example, DreamDrive was pitched as having capabilities similar to Tesla’s autonomous features, but right now, it feels like it’s just basic adaptive cruise and a pretty rough lane-keeping assist. Do you think software updates will eventually bring it up to speed, or is this as good as it gets?

I also heard that Apple CarPlay would be coming at some point, but no updates on that yet. And with SXM Radio, I was told it’s still in Beta and only streams rather than using a satellite feed, so it’s a bit spotty. Is anyone else experiencing these issues, or heard about timelines for improvements?

DreamDrive was pitched with a lot of potential, and I’m really hoping it’ll get there with software updates. Lucid seems committed to enhancing their tech, so I think there’s a good chance we’ll see improvements to lane-keeping and other autonomous features in the future. As for CarPlay, it seems like it’s “coming soon”, typical tech company speak, right? The SXM Radio streaming can be spotty, but I’m hopeful they’ll move to satellite eventually. Here’s to hoping for some feature boosts soon! 🙏

DreamDrive and features like CarPlay might get better with time because Lucid frequently upgrades their software.

The current software team inherited an existing architecture and design. While they can make incremental improvements to the user interface, more significant changes likely require a complete redesign. A well-designed system allows for faster and easier updates. Lucid is probably working on both fronts: addressing immediate issues within the current framework and planning a more comprehensive redesign for the future. While it would have been ideal to get the design right from the start, software development is an iterative process. As technology evolves and car manufacturers seek to reduce costs, software updates will continue to play a crucial role in improving vehicle functionality and performance.
