I’ve had my Lucid Air GT for six months now, and I wanted to share my experience. For context, I also own a 2013 Tesla Model S from before they added all the sensors, so I have a bit of a benchmark to compare against. In general this Lucid is the best car I’ve ever owned.
Positives. The car drives beautifully, it’s incredibly smooth and precise. The design is stunning, and the interior is on another level compared to Tesla when it comes to luxury and comfort. Yes, it’s fast, but the real game-changer for me was the extended range, which has been a huge advantage.
Of course, there have been some issues, but I think that’s to be expected with any new vehicle, especially one from a newer automaker. I had a drive system error at around 10,000 miles, which turned out to require a new set of batteries. Lucid handled it exceptionally well, they picked up the car, transported it to a service center, and returned it two weeks later fully fixed. I also had the cabin heating module fail, but Lucid’s mobile service came to my driveway and replaced it on the spot. No issues since.
When it comes to range, I get about 80-90% of the stated range in warm weather and around 60-70% in colder conditions, which is pretty much in line with my Tesla. The key fobs are annoying, but I’m confident that’ll get resolved in time.
My only real complaint is with Electrify America’s charging network. On a recent road trip to Florida, we ran into several chargers that were either broken or painfully slow. The newer stations seem more reliable, but this is an area that needs significant improvement, not just for Lucid but for EVs in general. Unfortunately, this isn’t something Lucid can directly control.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this car. It’s worth every penny. The driving experience is fantastic, the design and comfort are top-notch, and the customer service has been amazing. Being able to talk to a real person when something goes wrong is such a breath of fresh air, something Tesla could definitely learn from.
