Have you checked for any recent updates for your system? Sometimes these kinds of bugs get fixed with a new release.

I feel you on missing the beep! Unfortunately, Lucid doesn’t have an audible confirmation when it locks, just the retracting handles and blinking lights. A software update could add this, though.
